Crimes In Bimbilla Should Be Taken Seriously
28.01.2018 LISTEN

The Nanumba Traditional Council has called on the security agencies and government to treat crimes at Bimbilla seriously and not be deceived by the ongoing chieftaincy dispute through which the criminals seek refuge.

A statement issued by the Council, signed by its Registrar, Mr Alhassan Fatawu, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Monday expressed sadness with the unjustifiable killings of innocent people at Bimbilla.

It mentioned the killings the late Bimbilla Naa, Andani Dasana Abdulai, and five others on June 19, 2014, the murder of 12 persons on July 09, 2015, through the Bimbilla Butchers' issue, murder of nine women and three children on February 09, 2017, and yet to be found murderer of Madam Alhassan Rahinatu on December 12, 2017, as well as the January 12, 2018 killing of four persons, and called on the security agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.

It said the Council had noticed with great concern that all the suspects arrested by the security agencies in connection with the crimes were walking free at Bimbilla.

The statement said: 'The unpunished culprits of these crimes are a source of motivation to the criminals behind the perpetual crimes the people of Bimbilla are experiencing.'

'The undeniable and widely accepted impression is that the laws do not work at Bimbilla like elsewhere in the country where these crimes were enough to put the perpetrators behind bars.'

'However, because these crimes occur at Bimbilla, the suspects enjoy the mercy of lazy investigations and treated with kids gloves by the security agencies that attribute every crime to the chieftaincy dispute,' the statement said.

The Council, therefore, called on all well-meaning Nanumbas to assist to bring peace to Bimbilla and not to raise their hands in despair and allow the situation to deteriorate.

It called on Nanumbas to see each other as brothers and sisters and not allow the Bimbilla chieftaincy dispute to take away their sense of reasoning.
