Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has forged stronger partnership with three Danish Universities to promote climate-smart agriculture.

The goal is to help substantially reduce emissions and pollution of the environment.

This is being done under the phase three of the 'Building Stronger Universities (BSU III)' project. Universities of Copenhagen, Aarhus and Aalborg are participating in the project

The Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) is providing the funding.

Dr. Torsten Rodel Berg of the Aarhus University, said it involved sharing of experiences and technology transfer to exhaustively address emerging development issues affecting the quality of life of the people.

Speaking at the official launch of the project in Kumasi, he said it would help to build the capacity of the KNUST in demand-driven applied sciences to overcome development challenges in the society.

He added that there would be marked improvement in the quality of research output of the university and inter-disciplinary team work.

Dr. Berg said development was knowledge-driven, and expressed the determination of the Danish universities to work with the KNUST to achieve the project's intended outcomes.

Professor Robert C. Abaidoo, Coordinator for the BSU III project, said a month long stakeholders' consultative meeting was being held to discuss the progress made under phases one and two.

They would deliberate on a wide range of issues - environmental management, innovation and entrepreneurship, health delivery systems and emerging research gaps.
