Ejisu (Ash), July 17, GNA - A 22-year-old corn miller from Achina in the Ejisu-Juaben district of Ashanti was on Friday remanded in prison custody by the Ejisu magistrate court for defilement. Kwasi Sarpong, whose plea was not taken, will re-appear on July 20. Police Chief Inspector A.K. Danquah told the court, presided over by Mr Justice Adutwum Mmorosa that Mr Kwame Kodua, the complainant on July 4, this year, found his daughter sick and unable to walk properly. He said the father therefore, interrogated the girl to find out what had happened to her.

The prosecution said during the interrogation, the victim told her father that at about 1700 hours the previous day, her mother sent her to grind corn and when she got to the mill, there was nobody there except Sarpong, who asked her to put down the maize, which she did.

Chief Inspector Danquah said the accused immediately locked the door to the mill and asked the victim to take off her clothes but the victim protested but her protestations fell on deaf ears as Sarpong told her that if she did not do it herself, he will strip her naked himself. He said the victim still refused and so the accused forcibly took off her clothes and had sex with her and that after the revelation, the victim's father reported to the police who arrested Sarpong.
