Community And Family Aid Foundation is happy to join this special 2017 global hand washing day 2017 which has become a critical global ritual celebrated year 15^thOctober. It has an important role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals—contributing to zero hunger, good health, quality education, reduced inequalities, and more. This October 15 is here with us, a global advocacy day dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap. Every year, Global Handwashing Day is celebrated with events, campaigns, and handwashing programs around the world.

Ahead of this year’s milestone celebration, CAFAF –GHANA and ACT FOR Change both civil society organizations had undertaken a series of face to face educational ,awareness, action campaign activities that had benefited over 2500 children in Ghana including sharing our experiences on the social media platform till date. This is why we care, hand washing with soap could prevent many of the 272 million yearly schooldays lost to diarrheal disease, and 50% of the infections acquired in healthcare settings. Handwashing is an affordable, effective way to achieve these goals. Handwashing with soap has the power to improve access to education for children, protect the health of patients and communities, and reduce inequities. Efforts on Global Handwashing Day to promote the benefits and practice of handwashing with soap, as well as fostering access to and improving hygiene facilities, will help us work towards a future where that potential is realized.

The Global Hand washing Partnership theme inspires celebrants and encourage handwashing with soap beyond October 15. This year’s theme is ‘Our Hands, Our Future’; reminding us that handwashing protects our own health, but also allows us to build our own futures, as well as those of our communities, and the world.We have truly have come far touching lives and making what matters matters most in this regard, yet we can do much more if each one of us join the crusade to the later. We strive for continued health, well-being, and productivity for ourselves, our families, and our communities.

We count on all to be change makers where our action towards handwashing could make a greater difference, in doing so we are saving lives and will certainly not live anyone behind.
