Jumia Ghana took home a prestigious award as the E-Commerce Company of the year in the just ended Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) Awards.

Jumia was recognized for its tremendous impact towards Ghana’s E-commerce sector and contributing immensely towards Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

It was said to have taken over Ghana’s electronic businesses and leading the support for the vision to convert Ghana’s economy into a cashless society. Among its enormous attributes, Jumia on countless occasions, have been commended by its sellers and partners for striving for excellence.

The president of the CIMG, Mr. Kojo Mattah is hopeful that Marketers and corporate Ghana can incorporate into their sales and marketing strategies cause related marketing to help bring about change that works against our progress as a nation.

In his fraternal message which was read on his behalf, Kwahuhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyepong II added his voice to the clarion call of the CIMG for businesses to ‘use CRM to bring about behavioral change by appealing to the Ghanaian society to resolve to eliminate inappropriate behavior that has worked against ourselves for so long’ – this for which Jumia upholds.

He added that ‘a resolve fueled by patriotism can also contribute in helping solve the menace of galamsey environmental pollution, child trafficking and child labor and many other negative attitudes’. He admonished that Ghanaians should all join in ushering in a new Ghana through a collective behavior change that will be beneficial to all.

The organizers of these awards, CIMG, seeks to lead in the development of world-class marketing professional and practitioners for effective marketing practice in Ghana. It is also aimed at providing world class training and championing the role and value of marketing as critical tool for business development.

Aside its capacity to increase Ghana’s economy by 10 per cent in 10 years, Jumia has begun raising the bar as at 2016 by establishing 126 operations across 23 African countries with 90 per cent contribution to Africa’s GDP hitting over four million customer base, thereby maintaining its status as the leading force of online commerce in Africa.
