Accuracy is essential if journalism is to inform the public debate. Accuracy comes ahead of speed. If you are not sure, hold fire. Being first and wrong is not a model to aim for. Being right, always reliable and measured is. these are the words of Mr Kofi Apkalu, leader of Liberal Party of Ghana

The founder and leader of Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mr Kofi Apkalu has shared his personal experience when reacting to the collapse of UT and Capital banks.

The politician was once operating a micro finance in kumasi in the Ashanti region and suddenly collapsed due to just an announcement from a journalist who was then working with kumasi based radio station luv fm.

This journalist, he said never conducted any investigations but rather incited his customers to come for their deposits because his micro finance is not functioning anymore.

" i drove straight to the premises of the fm station after hearing the announcement and honestlty i would have shot the journalist to death if i had a gun on me", he added.

Mr. Akpalu therefore urged journalists to be circumspect when reporting matters that can lead to the collapse of businesses and also expressed his confidence in GCB Bank limited in absorbing erstwhile UT and capital bank.
