Mobile telecommunication giant, MTN, has donated a cheque of GH₵5,000, MTN airtime worth GH₵500 and a drink hamper to the Chief of James Town, Oblempong Nii Kojo Ababio V towards the celebration of this year’s Homowo festival.

Speaking at the ceremony, Senior Manager, Sales Operations and Trade Marketing of MTN, Nii Adotey Mingle said this is the first time MTN is partnering the Chief of James Town to celebrate the Homowo festival slated for Saturday 12th August.

He indicated that his outfit will support the organization of some social activities throughout the festival period to make this year’s Homowo an enjoyable one.

Mr. Mingle noted that MTN will organise a community forum to educate members of the community and caution them against some social deviants and criminals who have been defrauding people of their money on the MTN Mobile Money platform.

He added that MTN will carry out data activation throughout the festive period at vantage points to give customers an experiential feel of the benefits of their fastest 4G LTE internet and data services.

According to him, the history of Ngleshie Alata people forms an integral part of the rich culture heritage of Ghana as early settlers of Accra which MTN has devoted to project over the past 10 years.

“As an African multinational, MTN has over the years committed to supporting and promoting the rich Ghanaian heritage through festivals. As a result, we have committed our resources to support selected traditional festivals each year across the country. In line with this commitment, MTN is here to lend our support to the people of Ngleshie Alata as they celebrate the Homowo,” he stated.

The Chief of James Town, Oblempong Nii Kojo Ababio V, who is also the Paramount Chief of Ngleshie Alata Traditional Area expressed his gratitude to the management of MTN for the kind gesture.
