Asankrangwa (W/R) May 24, GNA-Participants at a forum to mark the celebration of the fifth constitution week at Asankrangwa in the Amenfi West district on Monday, have attributed the inactiveness of some unit committees to the abuse of the constitutional provision that enjoins them to remain non-partisan.

They said some of these committees clearly identified themselves with political parties and could not agree on programmes that would enhance the welfare of the people.

Chiefs and other opinion leaders, civil servants, traders and students attended the forum' which was organised by the district secretariat of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE).

Mr. Samuel Adu Amponsah, the NCCE Assistant Field Officer, said the unit committees, needed the support of the people to enhance development.

He advised unit committee members to coordinate with chiefs and other opinion leaders to address problems facing their various communities. Mr. Clifford Akwaako, an official at the NCCE secretariat, called on the people to unite and plan for the development of the area.
