3 Female Writers Grab Awards 

Three female writers emerged winners of the maiden edition of the Rohi School's book writing competition.

The winners were Kathryn Port-Royalson, Nana Adjoa Tanaah Atobrah and Sylvia Seyram Gozah, first, second and third place winners respectively.

The competition which was sponsored by Mint Microfinance saw Kathryn Port-Royalson taking away a trophy and cash prize of GH¢500 for her book titled 'The Golden Opportunity.

Nana Adjoa Tanaah Atobrah received GH¢300 for 'Kumba: The Chosen of Simba' and Sylvia Seyram GH¢200 for 'The Jealous Princess'.

They also received book prizes and medals, while two others who entered the competition were also decorated with the medals.

Addressing the audience at the awards presentation held at the auditorium of the Rohi School located at Community 22 in Tema, the principal of the school, Pastor Mefful, acknowledged that the works produced by the winners are original materials.

She lauded the school's writers' club, whose tag line is 'developing imaginative writers', for grooming the pupils within a very short period to enter the competition.

Pastor Mrs Mefful indicated that management would not relent on its efforts in nurturing pupils to emerge as great scholars of their time.

She further said that the 2018 edition will be opened to other pupils outside the school, adding that this new strategy would make the entire event more competitive.

Ms Port-Royalson, the first prize winner, told the DAILY GUIDE that she derived her inspiration to write from her parents and teacher who engaged them in a series of writing orientations.

She expressed her appreciation to her teachers and parents for their encouragement.
