Mallam Sulemana aka 'Romeo,' the ex-convict

Mallam Sulemana, an ex-convict, has been arrested for allegedly robbing some students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) of their belongings.

The ex-convict, together with three other hoodlums, reportedly invaded a student's hostel at Ayeduase, near KNUST on May 22, this year, and made away with mobile phones and other devices.

The police patrol team received a distress call and quickly rushed to the crime scene where they apprehended Sulemana, also known as 'Romeo' around 3am.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah, said Romeo's three accomplices, whose names were given as Abass, Akwasi and Kolo, managed to escape and police were hunting for them.

The police found locally manufactured pistol, five BB cartridges, Nokia mobile phone, a lady's bag, wristwatch, radio speaker, spent cartridge fired at the scene and an amount of GH¢52 on Romeo.

Addressing a press conference, DCOP Yeboah stated that Romeo, during interrogation, admitted the crime and mentioned Abass, Akwasi and Kolo, who are currently at large, as his accomplices.

According to him, the police suspects that Abass, Akwasi and Kolo may be hiding at the Affordable Housing area at Asokore Mampong or Ayigya Zongo community to escape.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander therefore appealed passionately to the public to supply the police with information that would lead to the arrest of the three suspects.
