The Spring Out Of Associations Within The Physician Assistants' Profession

By Office of the President: PASAG-National
Press Release The Spring Out Of Associations Within The Physician Assistants' Profession
APR 28, 2017 LISTEN

"The Destiny of Man is to unite, not to divide. If you keep on dividing you end up as a collection of monkeys throwing nuts at each other out of separate trees", Says the wise man.

I must say that I am not happy with the way and manner new breeds of Associations keep springing out within the PA Profession. The registering of my displeasure has become necessary because the formation of these new Associations are causing massive divisions at the students front as well as at the leadership front of our seniors on the field. Why should it be so?.

"When justice is too delayed, violence will erupt here and there, not because man wills it but their accumulated grievances will erupt with volcanic furry" (Dr. Kwame Nkrumah). Members of the Ghana Physician Assistants' Association (GPAA), especially the interns feel they have not been treated fairly by their executives, the Ministry of Health, and other stakeholders; hence the formation of these new Associations to champion their own course. Whom are we to blame now?.

Even though the students Union Compromises of the Post Basics and the Direct trained which in turn are made up of those from the Private and the Public institutions, yet remain united.

My advice to my fellow students is that, let's remain PASAGNARIANS, let's leave politics to the experts and start dealing with our own peculiar issues that borders us as students. I promise we the National Executive Council of the Students body will remain neutral from these new Associations, thus, our members should stay neutral until after a successful graduation. Per the constitution of PASAG-National, we are affiliated to Ghana Physician Assistant Association (GPAA). We are informing the Executives of GPAA through this release that the welfare of interns, students and the entire members should be their priority else we will equally advice ourselves as students.

To the new born Associations, every one has the right to join any association, we all want the betterment of the Physician Assistant profession but not to the extent of creating divisions among the students. We therefore, entreat leaders of such factions to exclude the students from your activities.

After graduation, we will know which one to join but for now, our constitution mandates us to follow GPAA.

"The youth walks faster but the old knows the road", says the wise man.

Long live PASAG
Long live GPAA
Long live Ghana
