Water is a necessity for our survival as human beings.

We wish to draw the attention of the media and the general public to the perennial water shortage that has hit Nyankpala and it surrounding communities.

Nyankpala is a host of very important institutions, the very first campus of the *University for Development Studies*, *Savannah Agriculture Research Institute* , *Animals Research Institute* and a privately owned *SHS* can be named .

For more than a month now, pipes in the town has not been flowing and this has made life unbearable for the people living in the town. One has to walk for several miles before he or she can get water which is not even safe for drinking.

Most student in basic schools do not go to school this days since there is no water to bath nor wash their clothes, UDS students sometimes forfeit lectures due to this unbearable situation. Some have to rely on sachet water for bathing and cooking.

Students are suffering, workers are suffering, women, men, children, both young and the aged are all suffering.

The situation has move from bad to worse, from worse to extremely worse.

On this note we would like to call on the Ghana Water Company, Tolon District Assembly, Northern Regional Coordinating Council, PURC and other stakeholders to ensure that our pipes are opened within the next 24hours in other to save lives .

After 24hours if nothing is done, we shall advice ourselves.

Thank you!!
