Bibiani (W/R), April 27, GNA - A District Magistrate's court at Bibiani presided over by Mr Dake Darketsey has granted a 50 million cedi bail to Kofi Badu, a 75 year old farmer of Sefwi Nambro, for allegedly defiling his 12-year- old step-daughter.
He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on May 5. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Nai Agyemang told the crowded court that the accused was married to the victim's mother and about three months ago the mother left her in the care of the accused to enable her travel to Sefwi Ntakam to work on her farm.
According to the prosecution, the very day the mother left, the accused took the victim to his farm near Sefwi Nambro and after the day's work, forcibly had sex with her on the farm.
After the act, according to the prosecution, the accused brought the victim home had, sex with her again and on subsequent days. The prosecution said the victim later informed an inmate of the house and when the mother returned, she was informed.
Not satisfied with the situation, the mother went to inform the victim's biological father who confronted the accused but he denied. However, a police hospital form issued to the victim, after an initial report confirmed that the victim had been sexually assaulted.
