By Joyce Danso, GNA Accra, March 17, GNA - Madam Akua Donkor, Founder and Leader of the Ghana Freedom Party on Friday disclosed her intention to establish a home to cater for abandoned kids in the country.
She has therefore asked mothers who abandoned their babies on rubbish dumps to bring their kids to her deserters home which is to be situated at Adieso in the Eastern Region.
According to her it was criminal for a mother to throw away her child or put them in polythene bags and abandon them.
Speaking to journalists after giving evidence in a robbery case in Accra, Madam Donkor said mothers who throw away their babies in polythene bags should be killed when caught.
'If you are pregnant and don't want the baby please walk to my place, give birth and leave the baby there I will take care of them,' she added.
According to her she was moved recently by the plight of a baby boy who was put in a polythene bag and abandoned at Akwatia in the Eastern Region.
When asked how she was going to fund the project, she said she would do her best to mobilise funds on her own to commence the project. GNA
