Government Should Come Clear On The Power Outages, "Dumsor"

By Truth And Accountable Governance
Press Release Boakye Agyarko, Minister For Energy
FEB 27, 2017 LISTEN
Boakye Agyarko, Minister For Energy

The Country has over two weeks now been experiencing what can be describe as 'Dumsor' in our local parlance. Almost all the 10 regions have been experiencing Power Outages for 12 to 18 hours daily for the past two weeks.

Ghanaians are confused now and do not know whether it is the return of Load Shedding ('Dumsor') or Technical Fault. Because of that, we are unable to plan for our days.

The previous government informed Ghanaians that they had fixed 'Dumsor' and for over five months, the country enjoyed stable electricity supply until this recent outages.

We are all aware of the effects 'Dumsor' has on the economy amongst which include: Lost of Jobs, Collapse of Industries, Lost of lives and properties and others.

We do not want to revisit the era of Dumsor again. We do not want to loss Jobs again, we do not want closure of industries again and we do not want to loss lives and properties again.

The Energy Minister Hon Boakye Agyarko was heard on radio last week giving a promise by saying that " the current power outages is not the return of Dumsor but rather a Technical Fault and by Saturday 25-2-2017 the problem will be over". Unfortunately, the problem still persists and currently part of the country is still in darkness.

TAG is therefore calling on the government to demand answers to the following:

1) Is current power outages caused by a routine maintenance at any of the Generation stations?

2) is it a Technical Fault at any of the substations?

3) Or it is the return of Dumsor? If yes, then the government or E.C.G or the Energy Ministry should

give us a time table so that Ghanaians can plan their day well in order not to be caught on the way.

We also want to state that if the current power outages is a return of Dumsor, the government MUST do everything possible to stop it for we do not want to go back to the dark days of Dumsor.

H.E Nana Akuffo Addo promised Ghanaians that he has the competent men and women to solve Ghana's problems, so we are expecting nothing but a definite and lasting solution to the Dumsor which is bewitching us.

May Allah Bless Us All
May Allah Bless Our Homeland Ghana.
Thank You
Sirr Abdullah
