NDC NDC, NPP supporters clash at Chereponi

Tamale, Dec. 6, GNA - A clash between supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) around midnight on Monday at Chereponi in the Northern Region has left one dead and 14 others injured.

The supporters were returning to Chereponi after attending separate final rallies of both parties when the incident occurred.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Ebenezer Tetteh, Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command, who confirmed the incident to the GNA in Tamale, said five of the critically injured were on admission at the Yendi Hospital and three others were also on admission at the Chereponi Polyclinic.

ASP Tetteh said six of the injured were treated and discharged at the Chereponi Polyclinic.

He said the cause of the clash was not known adding no arrest has been made.

He said a team of police and military reinforcement arrived at Chereponi to maintain law and order.
