NOYED-Ghana organises stakeholder's workshop on education

Tamale, Sept.17 GNA - Net Organisation for Youth Empowerment and Development (NOYED) in partnership with the Northern Network for Education Development, on Friday organised consensus workshop on a new education project.

The workshop was to discuss the way forward towards the Promoting Transparency and Accountability in Education project.

Mr Alhassan Abdulai Iddi, the Executive Director of NOYED-Ghana said the project, which is being funded by USAID is aimed at promoting accountability and responsiveness of 25 districts in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions to manage education resources.

He said it was also to increase awareness and involve 270 local civil society organisations (CSOs) and 1,250 parents from the 25 districts as part of the management of education resources in the regions.

According to him, 55 CSOs are in dialogue with communities, Ghana Education Service and the Government on accountability of education resources management in these regions to achieve the aims of the project.

Mr Iddi said so far, the project has improved transparent and accountable management of education resources results in teaching and learning outcomes in 13 project districts and 85 school communities in the regions.

He noted that 35 per cent of the project districts and 45 per cent schools have adopted pragmatic measures to address bottlenecks of education resources those districts select.

He said the project has increased adherence to more efficient utilisation and management of education resources in at least 10 project districts and 80 project school levels.

Mr Paul Nabilah Napari, the Education Specialist at USAID in the Northern Region urged stakeholders to support Government to promote quality education in the north.
