Politics And Mamprugu! My Take, What Is Your Take?

Dr. Bawumia, Vice Presidential Candidate of NPP

I want to be Dr. Raymond Atuguba for today. That doesn't make me a lawyer! Please, the article is too long but be patient to read in between the lines. I don't intent to be political. I need to present the facts as they are. The facts and nothing but the facts!

The Chambers Dictionary gives six definitions for "politics".

1. Politics is the art or science of government.
2. Politics refers to the management of a political party.

3. Politics talks about the political affairs or opinions of people in a society.

4. Politics refers to the manoeuvring and intriguing in society.

5. Politics refers to policy-making, as opposed to administration

6. Politics captures the civil rather than the military aspects of government.

I check and cross-check these six definitions very well and what surprises me is the way and manner people see politics to be in today's world. I have a reason why I support a particular political party. The only way out is to find out that (my reason) and then take steps possible to convince me to vote for your party. If I like and live with violence, then you have to prove to me that I can work with you (of course, I don't belong to this school of thought) . If I cherish peace, you have to prove to me that I can work with you (where I belong) . This in one way or the order distinguishes one political party from the other.

Let's come back to the definitions of "politics" by The Chambers Dictionary of English. If it were be examination Condition I will prefer the combination of the six definitions to get a superb modelled, awarding and acceptable definition. When you do that you will get a better practical society for your people and country.

Good! None of the definitions talks about violence. Hence violence is not part and parcel of politics. Let's stay away from violence and then push forward our preferred party's plans for our people.

Once again, my objective is not to be political about this piece. I intent to let people reason for themselves, not any other reasoning, but logical reasoning.

Dr. Edward Mahama is a seasoned politician. I love him for not playing political cards in the field of politics. No group ever gatecrashed since he started politicking. His politics has always been policies, policies and nothing but policies. And that is it! If you admire and cherish his policies then you vote for him and if you don't then you look for another candidate and vote for.

The most dramatic part of this piece is that Dr Bawumia was alive and kicking when Dr. Edward Mahama was voted as the Presidential Candidate of the PNC. Did Dr. Bawumia campaign for Dr. Edward Mahama? Your guess is as good as mind. Did we fight because Dr. Edward Mahama was "eyeing" the Presidency? Master, most of us are educated and are very much aware of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana. How then should Dr. Bawumia want us to campaign and vote for him? I hope the people of Mamprugu deserve better.

Dr. Bawumia was chosen by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, I expected him to move in that tangent of Dr. Edward Mahama. On the contrary, he started playing the tribal and religious cards. "I am one of you vote for me." "Your son has come to you to enskin him. " I will never turn my back on my own people." "... I will swear by the Quran and enter the Flagstaff House and Nana Addo will swear by the Bible and enter the Flagstaff House. " This is the kind of politics I am talking about.

Some people are staying far-away from their traditional homes and therefore I appreciate their stance.

Today, some of us are called traitors and wicked people who don't want Mamprugu to grow because we don't support or throw our weight behind Dr. Bawumia. Today, we are vilified and called all manner of names by some NPP acclaimed communicators because we don't support their line of political arguments. How can these political masturbations convince me to join and vote for the NPP?

Master, sing the songs of your party and stop the unnecessary noise. I have made my mind to be positive about Mamprugu , you have made your mind in similar vein, then why condemn me? Let me have my religion and you have your religion so says the Quran.

Alhaji Baba Seidu Issifu is more than a parliamentary candidate. I am not a soothsayer but I have seen him in the Presidency. What is not clear to me is whether he will be the Vice or the President! The bottom line is that Alhaji Baba Seidu Issifu will one day be in the presidency.

"One factory one district"! If this is anything to go by then Alhaji Baba Seidu Issifu has satisfied the condition. A fuel station and a Pure Water Factory are both credits to Alhaji Baba Seidu Issifu. These two business projects have provided job opportunities for the good people of Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency. Empowerment has also cropped out as a result of the efforts of the man of the people. Others refer to him as the People’s man. I will like to call him the man of the people. Grammatically, both mean the same.

I will never run away from political comparisons. It is through that, that the floating voters will choose and vote for the best candidate.

Every political party has its own "arsenals". This will make political comparisons relatively very easy.

As I indicated, I didn't intent to be political with my write up but to convey a spirit of Community "unism" despite belonging to different political parties in Mamprugu.

Belonging to different political parties at a point in time helps! That's Atindow Musah's take! What is your take?

The former president of the Republic of Ghana, Professor John Evans Atta Fiifi Mills once said that "history is a window to the future" . The people of Mamprugu should watch out! History will definitely be a window to the future. Ladies and gentlemen, my brothers and sisters, the aged, women and children in Mamprugu I wish you well in your political decision. I will still love you if you reject my candidate. When Brutus was asked why he killed Caesar, this was his answer; "Not that I loved Caesar less, but I loved Rome more."

Hon. Abdallah Abubakari, the Minister for Northern Region is a credit to Mamprugu. A seasoned politician, teacher, social agent, changed agent and community developer! He is my former Economics teacher from Nalerigu Senior Secondary school. He was a teacher everybody loved. No wonder, he had been transmogrified into a political figure. In fact, he is a plus for progress of Mamprugu. We love him, we appreciate his efforts in maintaining and bringing peace in Northern Region. The people of Mamprugu particularly Walewale and its environs will never disappoint you. The evidence are there for everyone to see and appreciate.

Long live Mamprugu!
Long live Ghana!
