Two die in an accident on Akim Oda - Swedru road

Akim Oda, Nov. 1, GNA - Two persons died on the spot and 20 others were injured when the vehicle on which they were travelling from Accra to Akim Oda was involved in an accident at a spot near the "big tree" in the Birim South District on Saturday.

The dead were identified as Christiana Darko, 62 and a six-year-old girl, whose name was not readily available.

Some of the victims were on admission at the Akim Oda Government hospital while those whose condition were critical have been transferred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra.

One of the accident victims on admission at Oda Government Hospital told the GNA that, the accident occurred when one of the tires of the vehicle they were travelling on burst and the vehicle somersaulted several times,

According to her, before the accident occurred, some of the passengers were arguing with the driver that he was driving too slowly and that he should drive fast.

As a result of that, the driver started speeding and when the tyre burst, he could not control the vehicle, resulting in the accident.
