Tinkong (E/R), Aug. 20, GNA - The Tinkong Traditional Council has installed a 52-year-old Dutch philanthropist, Mr. Robert Van-Beek, as Development Chief for Tinkong, in the Akuapem North Municipality.
Mr. Van-Beek was installed under the stool name Nana Kwadwo Siaw, due to his consistent commitment to the development of the Tinkong community.
The projects include the construction of an ultra-modern clinic, and an educational centre under his Non-governmental Organisation (NGO), 'Live Now Foundation'.
At a grand durbar of the chiefs and people of Tinkong to swear in and outdoor the new development chief, Nana Wontumi Toprah the fourth, Chief of Tinkong, praised the expatriate for his immense contributions towards the development of the area.
He said Nana Siaw who had been part of the Tinkong community for the past six years, had shown the greatest desire to help ameliorate the sanitation, water, health and educational challenges facing the community.
Nana Toprah affirmed that because more development was needed to make life comfortable for the people of Tinkong, it was expedient that the Netherlands national was installed development chief to join the traditional council to initiate more developments.
Nana Siaw thanked the people of Tinkong for the honour done him, and pledged his continued commitment to the development of the area.
He pledged not to bring the image of the stool into disrepute. GNA
