Farmer Caught Red-Handed

A 29-year-old farmer's lust for no other person than an epileptic, mentally ill female at Agona Asafo in the Central Region has landed him in the arms of the law.

On his appearance before the Agona Swedru Circuit Court on a charge of “carnally knowing a female idiot,'' Ohene Dade pleaded innocence,prompting the presiding judge, Mr R. K. K. Asaase, to remand him in prison custody until August 24.

Detective Sergeant R.A. Boamah of the Swedru Divisional Crime Office told the crowded court that the victim is a 16-year-old female mentally ill patient living with her parents at Agona Asafo where she sleeps alone in a room, while Dade is a farmer who also hails from and resides at Asafo.

On May 28, this year, at about 11.30pm, the brother of the victim was returning home from a wake when he saw the door to the victim's room left ajar. He opened the door and entered the room only to see a naked Dade busily having sexual intercourse with his epileptic and mentally retarded sister.

Det/Sgt Boamah said the witness grabbed Dade and his victim together and raised an alarm. People came and helped the witness to send Dade to the police station where he was handed to the police that same night.

The prosecutor said the police rearrested Dade and sent him to the Swedru Divisional branch of the Women and Juvenile Unit (WAJU) of the Police Service where a medical report form was issued to the victim to attend hospital.
