Tema, Aug. 20, GNA- The Tema Regional Police Command from January to June this year, recorded 290 accidents out of which 23 people died while others sustained various degrees of injuries.

A release signed by Inspector Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, Tema Police Public Relations Officer said the Tema-Ada to Sogakope highway, described as the most dangerous route, recorded the highest number of 45 cases of which 23 deaths were recorded.

It said fines totalling 133.231 million cedis were imposed on offenders by the courts.

The release noted that drivers, who ply the Tema-Sogakope highway currently under construction, do so at top speed, cause dust on other motorists and this resulted in accidents.
