GCB Unveils New Brand Identity

The Ghana Commercial Bank Limited GCB has launched a new brand identity of the bank marking the beginning of the next generation of GCB with a new image to become a dynamic force in the banking industry in Ghana.

At the launch held in Accra, the Managing Director of GCB Bank Limited, Mr. Simon Dorno, explained that the new visual identity consists of a new brand mark made up of an eagle symbol and a logotype “GCB” with color pallets that combine beautifully to give expression to their new image of dynamism and freshness as well as the enduring relevance of its Ghanaian and African heritage.

This, he said, reflected their strengths as a strong, accessible and reliable banking partner and projects a new image of a modern and progressive bank with a commitment to superior customer service through embracing technology and best practices.

He said the new service ethos is underpinned by a set of corporate values that define who they were as a service oriented company in this regard, therefore new standards for customer service as a brand banking environment and the ease and convenience with which customers are able to have access to banking services from GCB.

Simon Dornoo said the brand is a significant milestone in the evolution of its bank and it follows an extensive brand audit where their customers, employees and other stakeholders discussed their perceptions of the bank and where it needs to focus its energies.

He said GCB has regained its position as one of the best performing banks in Ghana after losing some grounds to new entrants and existing players in the market.

He said the bank has doubled revenues from GHC200m to GHC560million, increased operating profits from GHC20million to GCH320million, and doubled deposits over the last 4-years.

This performance he said has moved the bank from a 20th position on the banking league table to number one in terms of overall performance and return non-investment.

Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Helena Monakotey, said Government has undergone its operation through the performance and activities of the banking sector over the years.

She said GCB has contributed its quota to the development of the nation amid the numerous challenges facing the bank.

"Throughout the 16-years of existence of GCB, as it was set up to help local governance, the bank has played a vital role of repositioning its standards to benefit all persons in the country."

She was confident the new brand will attract attention from all walks of life as far as their aim is to consolidate their position as one of the best performing banks in Ghana and continue to play a leading role in the growth of the Ghanaian economy.

On his part, Chairman of the Board of Directors of GCB Bank Limited, Mr. Elliot Gordor, said the importance of this ideal product came inasmuch as the board was convinced that the GCB brand required modernizing in line with the positioned growth improved all round performance that the bank has achieved over the past 4 years and the timing was right to begin to deliver the bank of the future.

He, therefore, acknowledged those who saw the need for an indigenous banking institution and pushed for its establishment and therefore appreciate shareholders for endorsing into the vision as well as the board of the bank whose guidance and support have made this change possible.

He assured GCB bank will actively operate the account with pride across the world.
