Prekumase (E/R), May 8, GNA - Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Gustav Narh Dometey, has appealed to the Electoral Commission (EC) to provide a polling station at Prekumase, near Sekesua in the Upper Manya area to facilitate voting by the residents, who currently had to walk over a long distance to another community before casting their vote. Mr Dometey said most of the people at Prekumase, especially the aged, found it difficult to make the distance, thereby missing the opportunity to register and vote as expected of them. He made the appeal at the inauguration of the Prekumase zone of the Agricultural Producers Council (APC) on Friday at Prekumasi. He said the government was constructing roads, connecting electricity to communities and putting up new school blocks in a bid to improve upon the standard of education and make it more accessible to all.

Mr Dometey urged the people to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections to enable them get more projects to improve their economic well-being. The deputy Minister, who is the NPP Parliamentary candidate for the Upper Manya Constituency, asked the people not to allow anyone to influence their vote and that they should rally behind him to enable him go to Parliament and work to facelift the area. The district coordinator of the APC, Mr Ebenezer Tettey, said the organisation was an initiative by the Ministry of Women and Children's affairs to assist in the marketing and effective distribution of agricultural products, which are mostly locked up in the villages due to transportation problem. It was also to help solicit financial assistance from financial institutions to members to improve their agricultural productions.
