Accra. April 25, GNA- The Ghana Trades Union Congress (TUC) will for the first time, celebrate May Day with other labour organizations under the theme" Social protection and Economic development the role of organized labour", on May 1, 2004 throughout the country.
A statement signed by Mr. Kweku Darko Afari head of public affairs department of the TUC said President John Agyekum Kufour would deliver the keynote address with the TUC Secretary General delivering the May Day address at the Independence Square.
The release named the labour groups who would join the TUC as Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), Civil Servants Association (CSA), Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Ghana Registered Nurses Association (GRNA) and the Judicial Service Association (JUSAG).
The release announced that a number of workers who excelled in their work both at the regional and national levels would be presented with awards, adding that there would also be a May Day quiz involving five Universities in Accra on Sunday May 2.
