Akim-Adwafo (E/R), April 13, GNA - A community development club inspired by the Krontihene of Akim Adwafo in the Birim South district has been inaugurated with a call on the people to develop the spirit of self-help to accelerate the pace of development in the area. Nana Asare Gyapong I, Krontihene, who is also the patron of the club, who made the call said much as the government would like to develop every corner of the country, the present economic situation places a limitation on its programmes.

Nana Gyapong said the club would embark on income-generating ventures to mobilise funds for the rehabilitation of the local Primary and Junior Secondary schools, which were in a very deplorable state. In addition to the rehabilitation of the schools, the club will support students who obtain up to aggregate 15 in the Basic Education Certificate Examination with one million cedis to further their education to the Senior Secondary level.

The Birim South District Chief Executive, Mr Yaw Amprofi, advised the people to turn away from indiscriminate sexual tendencies in order to avoid contracting the HIV/AIDS disease.

He urged parents to invest in their children's education. Mr Amprofi called on Ghanaians to place the interest of the nation above personal political agenda so as to help build a peaceful, united and stable society.

The chief of Akim Adwafo, Nana Ahenkora III, urged Ghanaians to be tolerant of all shapes of opinions.

He commended the Krontihene for inspiring the formation of the club and advised members to refrain from acts that would result in their disintegration.
