GHANA DESERVES MORE THAN PEACE........

Feature Article GHANA DESERVES MORE THAN PEACE........
AUG 1, 2013 LISTEN

When was the last time you even shook hands with a sitting or former president of Ghana? Rawlings, Kuffour, Mills or Mahama, whose soft perfumed palms have you had the luxury of touching? This brings back my high school memories when the first three in class were called on stage to shake hands with the HEAD-MASTER which officially became known as "presidential handshake." It wasn't just the pride of proving to your parents how good you were in school that motivated some of us to always be among the top three, however, the assurance that the only VISA to handshaking the HEAD-MASTER of my school was strictly academic excellence gingered, energized, enzymed, motivated and compelled some of us to battle the stubborn, cruel, heartless, smart and intelligent MOSQUITOES of the Toronto-Desert (Kumasi High school).

Sometimes l wonder and ponder; what at all do we the poor electorates get from politicians? After joining the queue in the scorching SUN to vote for people to RULE and LEAD us, what single benefit do we get from these politicians ? With angelic and innocent faces, these politicians plead humbly for our votes. Once we give them the mandate as leaders it becomes a different ball game altogether. Their angelic voices of the "please vote for me" is quickly turned to " what do you expect me to do" once they are elected into office. No politician will knock at your door in the morning to bring you bread and butter. Our success in life depends on our own sacrifices and hardwork. So why the need to KILL ourselves just to bring politicians to power?

History tells us of poor politicians who became MILLONAIRES few months after assuming power. Once elected into office, they fill their Swiss Bank accounts with millions of dollars obtained from the SWEAT and TOIL of the poor taxpayer. Their kids attend the best of Universities outside Ghana whiles expensive trips to London, Miami, Dubai, China, South Africa, Brazil, Paris, Rome and Abuja become the order of the day.

No politician will kill himself to get you bread and butter so don't be the STUPID HERO of starting an "Arab Spring" in Ghana just to get your NDC or NPP to power.

Certainly, the supreme court will bring its verdict on the ongoing election petition case before it. No matter the outcome, let's all ACCEPT the verdict. Our country Ghana is governed by LAWS and we must all allow the LAWS of the land to reign supreme. Afterall, Ghana is the only country we have.

If you have never seen war never wish for one. There is absolutely nothing GOOD about war. It takes away innocent lives, children, women, pregnant women, the sick, weak and aged. If you have muscles for war, think about your grandmothers and grandfathers in the village. In case of war how can the pregnant women, the crippled, the 91 year old grandmothers and grandfathers coupled with the mad, how can they RUN for their lives? Life isn't just about us, it is also about the people around us. Let's think about the FUTURE and DESTINY of our country Ghana before taking any decision that will render people homeless, hungry, poor and amputated.

If you are an Ashanti, how can you eat your favourite FUFU when there is WAR? Kenkey won't be easily accessible to the Fantes and Ga's.

Tuo-Zaafi, Tigbani, and Pito will definitely elude our brothers and sisters from the North. What about the Nzema's and their favourite Rice and Soup. You see we all have something to lose in case of war not forgetting our very LIFE, that of our siblings, girlfriends and boyfriends.

Whether the NPP or NDC loses, whether we go for a possible RUN-OFF or either party wins, ensuring PEACE is the collective responsibility of every Ghanaian. There is no need seeking for peace because we already have it. Let's maintain our PEACE and even make it better. The whole WORLD is watching Ghana with rapt attention. Let's not give the BBC, CNN or the New York Times another opportunity to mock Africa and Ghana with headlines like ( "Another war in Africa", "Tension in Ghana", "Ghana in Flames", "Millions Die in Ghana") and other negative stories that have always been said about Africa.

A nation calls for duty now!!!!
Let's protect and preserve our peace now!!!!!
God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong.
