Saltpond (C/R), March 27, GNA - A 75,000 Ghana cedis bungalow built by the Mfantseman Girls Senior High School through voluntary contributions have been dedicated to the school Chaplain.

Right Rev Nicholas Asane, Bishop of the Cape Coast Diocese of the Methodist Church, supported by Very Rev Edward Bawa Diuri, Superintendent Minister of the Saltpond Circuit of the Church and Rev Kwasi Boakye School Chaplain, performed the dedication.

Right Rev Asane commended the Headmistress, Ms Charlotte Afi Addo, the staff and students for a good work done and said he would recommend what they had done to other schools in the diocese.

The Bishop said a school chaplain was considered as the spiritual father of the school and therefore needed a good place to stay to enable him to carry out his duties and also have a welcoming place for pastors who would call at the school.

The Headmistress, Ms Addo commended the Chaplaincy Committee and the students and said; 'the zeal with which they mobilised funds for the project is highly commendable.'

She said the project which was born out of the Golden Jubilee celebration of the school was initially estimated at 70,000 Ghana cedis but had to be reviewed to 75,000 due to the high cost of building materials.

She said 65,000 Ghana cedis out of the amount had been paid to the contractor whom she commended for doing a good job.

The Headmistress hoped the spirit of volunteerism with which they were able to build the bungalow would continue to exist to enable the school to do more for its development.

Rev Boakye, the Chaplain, expressed gratitude to the school for providing him and his family a decent place to live.
