The Prison Farms At The Krispol City Area Of Kasoa

I write to appeal to the authorities of the Ghana Prison Service to, as a matter of urgency, take some action to protect the dam built to serve the Prison Farms at the Krispol City area of Kasoa.

Sometime last year, part of the dam's wall collapsed during a heavy downpour.

It was a very small part but lack of remedial action has resulted in a yawning gap that makes the dam empty very fast.

It is sad and agonizing to watch a dam that must have been constructed at great cost die slowly.

My trips to the prison yielded no result as I'm told every time that the Commandant is 'not on seat.'

The dam not only serves the Kasoa Prison, but also thousands of people in the area and it'd be a great tragedy were it to be allowed to die.

Since prisons are maintained at public purse, methinks that the authorities could engage the prisoners to fix the wall.

A day's labour by ten to fifteen men could easily fix the problem.

It'd be a great shame if the dam is allowed to die because some people lack the foresight to do something.

A stitch in time, they say, saves nine.
