Mampong Cooperative Transport Limited declares profit

Mampong (Ash), Aug. 26, GNA - The Asante-Mampong Co-operative Transport Limited has declared a net profit of 42.3 million cedis for the last financial year compared to 22.5 million cedis the previous year.

Mr Henry Kofi Hagan, Sekyere West District Co-operative Officer, said the society's income for the same period stood at 101.9 million cedis as against an expenditure of 59.6 million cedis.

Addressing the society's annual general meeting at Mampong on Sunday he said monthly dues, however, dropped from 811,000 cedis to 410,000 cedis, showing a reduction of 49.5 per cent.

Loading fees, he said, shot up from 63.8 million cedis to 94.2 million cedis registering an increase of 32.4 per cent while 99,000 cedis was collected as fines from drivers, who flouted the Society's laws. Mr Hagan said in its bid to promote sports in the district, the society presented cash of 500,000 cedis to Mampong Kumapim Stars Football Club and 150,000 cedis to Mighty Stars Football Club. He said the society also donated 200,000 cedis to the Mampong Traditional Council and 300,000 cedis to some churches in fulfilment of its social responsibilities. The members commended the seven-member management committee of the society headed by Mr Akwasi Akuoko, Mr Philip Ababio and Mr Akwasi Addae, Secretary and Treasurer, respectively, for the good work they have done to keep the society's finances in good shape. Mr Akuoko also commended the drivers for being passenger friendly thereby enhancing the image of the society and asked them to continue to render quality services to the passengers. 26 Aug. 03
