The Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area and President of Eastern Regional House of Chiefs, Daasebre Professor (Emeritus) Oti Boateng has appealed to Ghanaians to continuously uphold peace before, during and after the 2012 elections.

Daasebre Professor Oti Boateng made the appeal at the celebration of the fourth Akwasidae festival in Koforidua in the New Juaben Municipality.

He recalled that a radio pronouncement in Rwanda some years ago led to a bloody war in that country, which resulted in the death of thousands of innocent people.

He pledged to use his position as the life patron and Chairman of the governing council of Media Corporate Response Initiative (MCRI) under the Ghana Journalists Association, to promote national cohesion beyond politics, religion and ethnicity.

The Akwasidae festival is celebrated nine times a year by the people of New Juaben.

It is celebrated on three levels, the traditional, Religious and cultural as custom demands.
