Mr Kennedy Agyapong The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, faces likely charges of treason for allegedly inciting supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to foment trouble and declaring war.
The MP has been invited by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to assist in investigations into the statement he is alleged to have made on an Accra radio station, Oman FM, last Friday.
According to an Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of CID Operations, Mr Frank Cofie, the police had information that the MP had made treasonable statements during the phone-in segment of a programme on Oman FM.
He said the police felt that if the information was actually true, then it was in bad taste and constituted a very serious offence under the laws of the land, hence the need to investigate it to get to the bottom of the issue.
