In their first meeting with developers of a mortuary facility in their community, residents of Pokuase Ridge East have sent a clear message that they do not want the project in the community.

The Environmental Protection Agency says its regulations required that the project owners conferred with the residents before starting the project.

The developers say they expected the meeting would allay the fears of people in the area.

But the residents say they simply do not want the project in the community.

They said not only were the sirens of ambulances a nuisance but also the chemicals used in the morgue posed health hazards for residents.

The residents handed to owners of the project a letter stating reasons why they do not want the project in the community.

Patrick Yebesi received the letter on behalf Banner Medical Centre and Funeral Homes Ltd, owners of the morgue project.

Patrick Yebesi who is the Director of Banner Medical Centre and Funeral Home Ltd, said the contents of the letter will be addressed.
