Awutu Bawjiase, (C/R), Jan 4, GNA - The Semenhyia Herbal Clinic at Oboom, near Kasoa, last Friday donated food items worth 3,000 Ghana Cedis and a cash of 700 Ghana Cedis to the Christian Refuge Orphanage Center and Country Side orphanage home at Awutu-Bawjiase in the Central Region.

The items comprised 15 bags of rice, four cartons of milk, four cartons of milo, toilet rolls, four gallons of cooking oil and three dozens of pepsodent tooth-paste.

Presenting the items, Mrs Adjoa Semenhyia, Medical Director of Semenhyia Herbal Clinic, said the donation formed part of her social responsibility to assist the inmates at the two homes to celebrate the yuletide in a joyful manner.

The donation coincided with the inauguration of the Christian Refuge Orphanage Center at Awutu-Bawjiase.

She noted that the children who, through no fault of theirs, had found themselves at the orphanage should be assisted in cash and kind to enable them to enjoy a better life since they also constitute part of the society.

Mrs Semenhyia called on Ghanaians who are well-to-do and other corporate bodies, as well as financial institutions, to come to the aid of the inmates.

She stated that the donation would not be a nine-day wonder but would be a permanent feature to support the up-keep of the inmates.

Pastor Elisha Paul Asmoah, Director of the Christian Refuge Orphanage Center who received the items, thanked the donor for the kind gesture and appealed to individuals and corporate bodies, churches and other benevolent institutions to come and assist the inmates.

He said the number of inmates had increased from five to 70 within the five months the home was started, and appealed to the people to help construct a school block and a dormitory to avoid congestion.
