CHASE Petroleum to commit more to community devt
23.12.2009 LISTEN

Oil Marketing Company, CHASE Petroleum Ghana Limited, says more of its profit next year will go into community development.

The company has designed a series of programmes to reach out to the Ghanaian society.

As per its commitment to corporate social responsibility, CHASE Petroleum has put up an ultra-modern 30-seater Computer Laboratory for the Garrison Primary and Junior High School in Accra.

The facility was commissioned by the Chief of Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces on the 16th of December, 2009.

It is believed this noble gesture on the part of the company will facilitate teaching and learning in the school. This move is also timely especially as the good use of computers has become critical to the effective functioning of bureaucracies.

And as it were, the earlier the concepts of computers are assimilated the better. Therefore, creating this access for the Garrison School children is laudable.

This ultra-modern computer laboratory is opened not only to the school, but to the entire community in which it is situated. Therefore, it is the hope of the financiers that, its establishment will entrench the good use of computers in the locality.

Chase Petroleum Ghana Limited not only plans to invest in education, but in other areas as well. Its management says they will seize every opportunity to invest in other areas, such as health, rural economy, and other basic necessities for deprived communities.

Marketing Manager of CHASE Petroleum Ghana, Sam Amoah, tells Joy News that more attention will be given to education, as the sector receives not enough public support.

In the light of government's inadequate budgetary allocation to the educational sector, this move on the part of the company is praiseworthy. In actual sense, it throws a challenge to many corporate entities to do more for Ghanaian communities, he observed.

Meanwhile, in helping to minimise the accidents on our roads, CHASE Petroleum Ghana Limited has recently invested in Joy FM's Drive Safety Campaign for Defensive Driving during the season.

This move was precipitated by the urgent need for rigorous public education for road-users to observe safety traffic practices. It is no gainsaying the fact that in Ghana, the yuletide season records more (and fatal) road accidents.

This undoubtedly claims many precious lives. This situation without doubt has deleterious effects on the people, the community, and development. So, this attempt to check bad driving on our roads is a commendable venture for CHASE Petroleum to invest in.
