BNI Invades Leading NDC Members House

Operatives of the now dreaded and ubiquitous BNI last Friday August 23, 2002, invaded the residence of Nii Adjei –Boye Sekan, Co-ordinator of the ACDRs and immediate past NDC MP for the Ledzokuku constituency in the Greater Accra Region. The operatives numbering five in all, entered the residence at about 6.45 am. Armed with a search warrant issued and signed by the Director of the BNI, they conducted a room-to-room search of the whole house. Claiming to be looking for arms, ammunition and other weapons, the search lasted till about 9am. Nothing was found. The search, conducted in the presence of the wife and children of Nii Adjei Boye Sekan left the family severely traumatized and in a state of shock, disbelief, agitation and consternation. Nii Adjei Boye Sekan joins the long list of victims of the NPP government's harassment who have been subjected to unnecessary, humiliating and intimidating searches. Earlier victims have included Mr Baba Kamara, then Deputy National treasurer of the NDC; Kwame Addo, businessman and leading NDC supporter, E.T. Mensah, Kwabena Boateng, Alhaji Salia, all leading members of the NDC, among others.
