Wamfie, 15 May, GNA – A district court at Wamfie in Dormaa East District, sentenced Godwin Kwame Mawutor, a 29-year-old farmer, to 18 months imprisonment for threatening a landlord and the police who went to arrest him.

Chief Inspector A.A. Duodu said Mr. Osei Kofi, released a parcel of land to Mawutor for share-cropping but when the crops were ready for harvesting the convict left the community unceremoniously.

Chief Insp. Duodu said Osei Kofi could not get Mawutor to share the proceeds of the farm and in April this year he decided to harvest some crops from the farm only to meet the convict working there.

Prosecution told the court that Mawutor ordered the landlord to leave the farm or had his head chopped off and the land lord took to his heels.

Chief Insp. Duodu said when the police went to the farm to arrest Mawutor, the farmer brandished his sharp cutlass and threatened the police but he was overpowered.
