Satellites' Boss Upbeat On Team's Chances

The management committee chairman of Black Satellites, Jordan Anagbla, has promised that Ghana would be the first African country to win the Under 20-World Cup slated in Egypt in September 2009. 

With his ability of delivering on his promises, Jordan Anagbla believes the Black Satellites have what it takes to win the World Cup to make the continent proud after the tournament.

The management committee chairman disclosed this exclusively to this  in Accra when asked of the chances of his team.

According to him this is not the first time of delivering on his promises: “I said we will beat Gambia in Banjul to qualify which we did and also said the African Cup will be won by Ghana and it came to pass.”

Adding, the winning of the African Cup in Rwanda was a bonus which has prepared us mentally and physically for the world trophy and would be displayed in Ghana after the tournament.

He expressed his excitement with the recovery of central defender Daniel Opare of Real Madrid which he regards as a victory for the team.

Asked if the selection of players is closed he implied that: “the doors of the team belong to all and anyone that makes the grade expected by the technical team will be included since we are seeking for the best.”

The Satellites are in  tough Group D with the likes of England, Uruguay and Uzbekistan.

¨     Patrick Nyarko has never played for the Black Stars, yet he is on Black Stars coach Rajevac radar.

Milovan Rajevac attended last Saturday's Fire-Columbus Crew game in the U.S.A. to get a closer look at the 23-year-old Fire forward.

“This was his first opportunity to see Patrick,” said Fire technical director Frank Klopas.

“He wants to bring him in for friendlies to take a closer look. When that will be? I don't know.

“Obviously Patrick is very excited. The good thing about him is that he's a level-headed kid.”

Nyarko has started all six of the Fire's games this season and has a goal and two assists.

The Black Stars' coach was also supposed to watch New York Red Bulls forward Dominic Oduro last Sunday but cancelled the trip because he was not sure Oduro would start against D.C. United.

Ghana is in the same qualifying group as Mali, which features Fire defender Bakary Soumare.
