Gomoa Students Association (GOSA) at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) have commended Ms. Ama Benyiwa Doe, Central Regional Minister on her appointment as the first female Central Regional Minister in the history of Ghana's democracy.

A press release signed last Friday by Mr. Bismark Kwofie, Secretary to the UCC branch of the Association, also congratulated Prof. John Evans Atta Mills for being the first person from the region to become Ghana's President.

It also commended the two Members of Parliament (MPs) for Gomoa East and West, Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere and Hon. Francis Kojo Arthur on their victories in the December general elections.

The release further commended former MPs for Gomoa East and West, Hon. Richmond Sam Quarm and Hon. Joe Hackman respectively, for their assistance to the Association in organizing vacation classes for pupils in the Gomoa area, to raise the fallen standard of education in the area.

The release was also grateful to Ms. Joyce Aidoo and Mr. Oscar Fred Abban, former Gomoa West District Chief Executive and current Presiding Member respectively, for the immense roles they played in uplifting the area's education standards.

Kwofie stated that they have confidence in Ms Benyiwa Doe to work hard to improve socio-economic development of the region so as to gain favour from the residents.

They also expressed the hope that President Mills will perform well as the first President from the region to make the region proud.
