Two persons have rebuilt a temporary wooden
bridge over river Naayawah to link Afutu, a suburb of Nsawam to other surrounding communities in the Eastern Region.
Mr Ransford Cudjow and Mr Sylvanus Dzamenu, the volunteers in an
interview with the Ghana News Agency said between 2002 and 2004 the people
of Afutu constructed the wooden bridge through communal labour.
They said their decision to reconstruct the bridge was motivated by
the plight of the aged and over 500 school children who passed on the bridge which had become a death trap compelling the children to use long routes to attend school at Osae Bo and Sakyi Agyakwah.
They said they used their own resources to put up the bridge and that
it was their contribution to help the people to overcome some of their
problems and called on the Akuapem South Municipality to assist them to have
a permanent bridge.
