Air Liquid Ghana Limited has donated ¢72 million worth of welding machinery to the Welding and Fabrication Department of Accra Technical Training College (ATTC) in Accra at the school's assembly hall.
In his welcome address, the principal of ATTC said skill training of students without the right type of tools and equipment will not produce the right type of tradesman for the Ghanaian industrial need.
He said this is the reason why the school is grateful for the type of donation they receive free of charge for the skill training of the students.
On his part, Mr Austin Irabor, Air Liquid representative at the occasion urged management of the school to put the equipment to good use as well as sustaining it to last longer.
Receiving the items on behalf of Ghana Education Service, management of the school and the entire student body, Mrs Naadu Mills, Deputy Greater Accra Regional Director of GES thanked Air Liquid, and used the occasion to appeal to other companies to come to the aid of institutions that need help. Mr Opoku, ATTC Board chairman, also called on other organisations to come to the aid of the school.
He said the school spends a lot of money to train people who need to be trained and therefore this makes it very difficult for the school to source for finance.
In his final remark, the chairman for the occasion said in subsequent donations organisations should also remember institutions in the rural areas

This donation by AIR LIQUID is very laudable. We hope that the company will also look at other areas to assist the various communities. There might not be the structures such as ATTC in the rural areas so assisting in the provision of health will be very apt. If such assistance is available, i will love to know how to access it.
