Osafo Maafo says no parliament

The MP for Akim-Oda and former Finance and Economic Planning Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo has formally informed his constituents of his intention to step down as MP for the constituency after his current term comes to an end. He made the announcement at a forum organised in his honour at Akim Oda.The purpose of the forum which was attended by traditional rulers, the muslim community, the clergy and constituency executives was also to allow the MP render an account of his stewardship after being elected three consecutive terms to represent and serve the constituency. Mr. Osafo-Maafo said he is grateful to the chiefs and people of the constituency who together with others partnered him in spearheading development programmes. He said through his MP's Common Fund he made good some projects in the area. Mr. Osafo-Maafo reiterated his full commitment and loyalty to the NPP and pledged his unflinching support to whoever is nominated to contest the Akim-Oda Parliamentary seat. The Gyaasehene of Akim Kotoku Traditional Area, Obrempong Antwi Peasa who chaired the function praised Mr. Osafo-Maafo for his stewardship and outstanding performance and expressed regrets of the early exit of the MP. The people also praised him for his international achievements.
