The Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, Jerryne Asante, was reportedly confronted on Monday, April 27, 2026, by individuals alleged to be constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), triggering tension at the Ejisu Municipal Assembly.

The incident is said to be linked to a separate allegation of a warehouse break in involving some party figures.

A widely circulated video on social media, originally shared by Akoma FM, captured a heated exchange between the group and police officers inside the MCE’s office. The footage also showed Gloria Korshior Huze, Ashanti Regional Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme and NDC Regional Women’s Organiser, at the scene.

The video further revealed damage within the office, including a shattered glass table believed to belong to the MCE, suggesting that the confrontation may have escalated.

Voices captured in the footage suggested the group had stormed the Assembly premises with the intention of forcing the MCE out of office, with one individual heard saying, “We didn’t come here to joke; pack your things.”

Madam Asante strongly condemned the incident, describing it as unacceptable and warning that those responsible would be held accountable under the law.

“The NDC has become cheap… you will suffer for it. Today, you have grown wings… you will suffer for it,” she said.

However, speaking in an interview on Owia TV, Madam Huze rejected claims that the visit amounted to an attack. She maintained that their presence at the Assembly was only to caution the MCE and not to cause harm.

She also denied any involvement in the reported damage to property, noting that police officers were present at the time, making such acts unlikely.

As of the time of filing this report, the Ashanti Regional leadership of the NDC, led by Chairman Augustus Andrews, popularly known as Nana Kwasi, had not issued an official response.

Prior to her appointment, Jerryne Asante was the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Ejisu Constituency in the 2024 general election.
