Ghanaian actor and New Patriotic Party (NPP) sympathiser Prince David Osei has criticised President John Dramani Mahama over recent intermittent power supply affecting parts of the country.
The country has experienced recurring power outages, commonly referred to as dumsor, over the past two weeks, raising concerns among households and businesses.
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) initially attributed the disruptions to ongoing replacement and upgrade works on transformers.
The situation has since been worsened by a fire outbreak at a GRIDCo power control centre in Akosombo, which reportedly led to a loss of about 1,000MW of power supply.
Reacting in a social media post on Sunday, April 26, the actor linked the current challenges to the President’s leadership, stating that “the name Mahama has become synonymous with DUMSOR.”
He further argued that past and present power challenges under the President’s tenure have had a negative impact on the country.
"From the 2012–2016 power crisis, which crippled homes and businesses nationwide, to 2025–2027… every tenure of President Mahama has been significantly marked and burdened by DUMSOR," his statement read in part.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has asked the GRIDCo CEO to step aside as investigations continue.
The Minister is set to address the public at a press conference later this afternoon at 2pm on Monday, April 27.

Look at how you have tightened your shirt button as if you wanted to commit suicide. You think Ghanaians don't know that the NPP deliberately burned down the Akosombo power plant to make Mahama's government unpopular? Just stay behind that useless Bawumiah until the NPP sees its next opposition in 2028.
