Minister Calls For Support For Housing Projects

Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique, Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, yesterday called for public private partnership and investment programmes that would help the country clear its 500,000 houses deficit.
     
The Minister was interacting with Mr Javid Ghorbanoghli, Director General for Africa of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Valiollah Mohammadi, Iranian Ambassador and other representatives from the Embassy who paid a courtesy call on him in Accra.  He said Iranian technology in the provision of water systems and housing structure were advanced and Ghana would be happy to work with the country.
     
Mr Saddique said government also hoped to provide clean, affordable and potable water to at least 85 per cent of the population, and that technology transfer and financial support were needed.
     
Mr Ghorbanoghli expressed Iran's commitment to partner Ghana, since his country was among the top ten countries with experienced in dam construction.  He said the establishment of a Ghanaian Mission in Iran demonstrated the bilateral relations between the two countries. He noted that information on Africa and its investment opportunities were lacking in the Middle East, hence the need to increase information dissemination to the area.
     
Mr Gborbanoghli said he would invite the Minister to Iran for further talks.
