The Member of Parliament for Atwima Nwabiagya South, Hon. Shirley Kyei, has once again demonstrated her commitment to improving the lives of her constituents.
On Sunday, September 21, 2025, she commissioned a mechanized borehole at Kyereyase, a project aimed at providing safe and reliable drinking water to residents.
The borehole, which was made possible through her lobbying efforts in partnership with the Non-Governmental Organization, September to Remember, is expected to ease the long-standing water challenges faced by the community. For years, residents of Kyereyase and surrounding areas have struggled with access to clean water, and this intervention is regarded as a major relief that will go a long way to promote good health and sanitation.
As part of the day’s outreach, Hon. Kyei also ensured that over 500 schoolchildren from Kyereyase, Nerebehin, Nyanebekyerɛ, Epuayem, and Dumase benefited from the distribution of school items. The pupils received school bags, used clothes, slippers, cups, and sanitary pads for young girls—an effort aimed at supporting education and promoting menstrual hygiene among schoolgirls in the constituency.
Furthermore, about 300 widows in the area were supported with essential relief packages including buckets, bags of rice, and packs of oatmeal. This gesture was warmly received by the beneficiaries, many of whom expressed their deep appreciation for the MP’s care and consideration for vulnerable groups.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Shirley Kyei expressed profound gratitude to September to Remember for their collaboration and pledged to deepen such partnerships in order to bring more developmental projects to the constituency. She emphasized that her focus remains on pursuing interventions that will directly improve the living conditions of her people.
Community leaders and residents who gathered for the commissioning described the initiative as both timely and impactful, praising the MP for her dedication and hands-on approach to addressing the pressing needs of her constituents.
The commissioning ceremony was not only a celebration of access to clean water but also a testament to the power of collaboration between leaders and development partners to bring tangible change to communities.
