Paul Kagame's regime in Rwanda is often touted as a beacon of stability and economic growth. However, beneath the surface lies a sinister reality. Kagame's government is an apartheid regime dominated by tribal supremacists amongst the minority Tutsis, who control all the levers of power.
Kagame's true intentions are revealed in his actions in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is using Tutsi rebels, M23, trained and armed by Rwanda, to invade and take over the natural resources of its giant neighbour. These rebels, from the eastern region of the DRC, are not only pillaging the country's resources but also threatening to march to Kinshasa, the capital, and seize power.
This is not just a local conflict; it has far-reaching implications for Africa's future. Kagame's actions are a stark reminder of the dangers of tribalism, which has been the catalyst for some of humanity's darkest moments. From the Rwandan genocide to the ongoing conflicts in the DRC, tribalism has left an indelible stain on Africa's conscience.
The international community must wake up to the reality of Kagame's regime and its implications for regional stability. In modern day Africa, no tribe is superior or inferior to another. We must demand that Kagame stops using proxy forces to destabilize the DRC and that he works towards a genuine reconciliation process in Rwanda.
The fate of Africa hangs in the balance. Will we succumb to the destructive forces of tribalism, or will we rise above them, forging a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come, in the AI-era? The choice is ours.
