Representatives from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) embarked on a surprise visit to traders in Kumasi as part of their efforts to connect with them and introduce new products.

The event, dubbed "SSNIT Customers Appreciation Day Market Storm," saw SSNIT officials visiting various areas including the New Kejetia (Dubai) and Race Course markets.

During the visit, traders who enrolled on SSNIT's newly introduced Self-Employed Enrolment Drive (SEED) program received chocolates and other customized items from the SSNIT officials. The officials also took the opportunity to engage with the traders and explain the benefits of the SEED program.

Mr. Michael Addo, Deputy Director General of SSNIT in charge of Finance and Administration, highlighted the purpose of the visit, emphasizing SSNIT's commitment to establishing a strong relationship with its customers, particularly in the informal sector. He explained that the SEED initiative aims to provide end-of-service benefits to individuals in the informal sector, similar to those in the formal sector.

Since its launch last year, over 60,000 individuals have enrolled in the SEED program, with a target of reaching 250,000 self-employed individuals. SSNIT management is dedicated to expanding the scheme to cover as many self-employed Ghanaians as possible.

Traders who benefited from the visit expressed their appreciation for the gesture and pledged their support for the SEED policy. They encouraged their fellow traders and self-employed individuals to enroll in the program, believing it would secure their future in retirement or times of need.

The interaction between SSNIT management and traders demonstrates the organization's commitment to engaging with its customers and promoting financial security among the self-employed population.
