Atik Mohammed, the former General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), has voiced criticism against President Nana Akufo-Addo's recent decision to dissolve the board of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) following the dismissal of Commissioner-General Rev. Dr. Amishaddai Owusu-Amoah.

The board's dissolution came in the wake of Rev. Dr. Owusu-Amoah's removal from office earlier in the week. His successor, Julie Essiam, assumed the role despite her contract having expired two years before she reached retirement age.

Speaking on Peace FM’s 'Kokrokoo' morning show, Atik Mohammed questioned the timing and necessity of the board's dissolution.

He raised concerns about the delayed action by the President and criticized the board for failing to enforce the retirement of the GRA Commissioner-General.

Mohammed argued that dissolving the board would not resolve the alleged "illegality" surrounding Rev. Owusu-Amoah's extended tenure.

"What mischief are you going to cure by the dissolution?…The errors that have been committed, your dissolution will not correct those errors," Atik Mohammed remarked.
