Renowned academician and Senior Researcher at the Kumasi Technical University, Prof. Smart Sarpong, has waded into the recent suspension of ministerial vetting by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, asserting that it was a strategic move to undermine President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, Prof. Smart Sarpong describes Bagbin's action as a retaliation to the President, suggesting that the Speaker was flexing his muscles.
"Speaker was just being sarcastic. Yes, it was not true at the time he said so, but I think it's just a way of him getting back at the Executive," Prof. Sarpong remarked during the discussion.
He expressed concern over the potential consequences of the ongoing power struggle between the Executive and the Legislature, cautioning that it could have far-reaching implications for the economy.
Prof. Sarpong further urged both parties to adopt a more diplomatic approach to address their differences, emphasizing the need for collaboration and cooperation to navigate through the challenges facing the country.
